MOST POPULAR QUESTION: How many people do you expect at your market?
We are never able to anticipate numbers for our markets because people’s plans change, weather effects decisions and SO MUCH MORE. We do not provide ‘guestimates’ either. All we can do as market organisers is to ensure we promote it in every avenue possible (print, online and radio) and hope that all of our own efforts (along with the stall holders who also need to be promoting it via their channels too) turn into people through the door. It is also extremely valuable to note that high numbers does not always equate to greater sales!
How long has The Creators Market been operating?
Since January, 2015
Who runs the event?
The market is run and event managed by Megan Luscombe.
Where does the market visit?
The Creators Market (as of May 2018) currently visits Bendigo, the Bellarine Peninsula and the Mornington Peninsula.
Do you provide tables and chairs?
No, this is the responsibility of the stall holder. The Creators Market does not provide these items due to so many stall holders having custom made stalls and preferred set ups.
How many stalls do you have at markets?
The minimum number we have at markets is 35 stalls with the maximum being 120. All of this is venue dependant, with smaller venues averaging on the 35 – 60 side and larger venues allowing 60+. We suggest you investigate the venue you’re looking to book at which will give you a pretty good indication on how many stalls it would hold. You can also look at our previous events via the Facebook events to see how many stalls we’ve advertised as attending when we’ve been at venues previously.
How much does it cost to have a stall?
2m x 1.5m space – $150 + GST
2m x 2m space – $160 + GST
4m x 1.5m space – $300 + GST
4m x 2m space – $320 + GST
What are the application dates?
All application dates can be found on the APPLY tab.
What is the application criteria?
Australian made & designed only.
What does the cost of my stall cover?
Your stall fee covers your SPACE on the day and more. It assists us with covering venue hire, event management, promotion of the market and your business, social media shout outs, press release writing and distribution to local/national media and insurance costs. Your stall price covers your ability to market your business at our event.
Can I negotiate my stall price with you to make it lower?
Rates are non-negotiable, much like speeding fines, phone bills and health insurance.
Will I be the only stall holder selling my product?
Absolutely not, if that were the case we’d only have one stall holder per category and that would make for a pretty boring (and small) market! We allow up to 2 stall holders per category per every 15 stalls.
What happens if I need to cancel my stall at the last minute?
We’d REALLY prefer it if you didn’t because you won’t get a refund.
Can we adhere things to the walls of the market venue?
How are stall holders accepted?
Stall holders are accepted on a first in best dressed method. As this market is run by a single person this method is the only fair and manageable way to run the market.
Do you automatically accept past stall holders back regardless of the application process?
No, at The Creators Market we believe in a fair-go for all small businesses, this is why we release the forms at certain hours so it’s a first in best dressed process. We highly appreciate those who have attended before and should they miss the application date/time we will 100% place them on our priority waiting list.
Can I share your Facebook posts to my followers so they know I’m exhibiting at your market?
YES you can! Share, Share & Share some more. Tell the whole world!
What if I decide I need more space and want to book another table?
If we have space available you can certainly book it, however it’s not free. You will be charged for the additional space.
How can I download an application form for a future market?
All applications can be found on this website under APPLY. Please note you cannot apply in advance to attend future markets.
How can I be notified of future markets so I can apply for a stall or just attend?
Like our Facebook page (facebook.com/thecreatorsmarketaus) or join our mailing list by emailing email@example.com
Can I put things in front of my stall?
Yes you can however please take into consideration the stall size you purchased and other stalls around you and walk ways for people coming through. We want your space to look fun and inviting but what we don’t want is for your stall to overshadow the one next to you or take up so much space it makes it hard to navigate around it
Can I bring business cards/flyers?
Hells yes! Bring any marketing material that you have for people to take away with them
Do you provide Eftpos machines?
Do you guarantee number of attendance?
No, we do not guarantee how many people will walk through the door. We promote it through as many channels as we can (online, print & radio) and it is also the responsibility of you as a the stall holder to do the same. It’s important to note that our markets are about quality stall holders and customers. We want to attract customers who want to spend their money with stall holders, and we’re sure you’ll agree it’s better to have 10 people buy your products as opposed to 100 who just walk on by.
I’m unhappy with how many people came to my stall and the low number of sales I made
That’s unfortunate however again, as market organisers we don’t control where people put their money. Maybe this is a time for you to reflect on your stall presentation, product offering & also your approachability at a market. We believe every market day is a new opportunity to learn and grow your business!
I want to be placed near my friend at the market, can you make this happen?
Only if you book stalls together at the same time. Once a stall is allocated it cannot be moved.
What time is load in?
The venue opens 1.5 hours prior to the market starting, it is your responsibility to be there on time, be loaded on time and be ready to trade when the market starts. No exceptions. Market organisers will only arrive at the venue 1.5 hours prior to market, no exceptions to this rule will be made.
I’m not making many sales and want to leave early, can I?
Nope and if you leave then you might miss a potential opportunity to make one! Stall holders who leave early due to this reason (it has never happened yet!) will not be allowed back at The Creators Market.
What time is pack down?
Pack down starts when the market finishes and not any time earlier.
I need to move my car during the event, can you watch my stall?
No, we cannot. It is your responsibility as a stall holder to take care of your stall at all times. Should you wish to move your car throughout the event, please bring someone to watch your stall or ask another stall holder.
I want a coffee, can I leave my stall to get one?
Absolutely, however make sure you’ve got someone to take care of it because there’s nothing worse than a customer wanting to purchase something from a stall holder who’s nowhere to be found.
I want to share a stall with someone, can I do that?
Stalls are able to be shared as long as the product being shared has not reached capacity in another fully purchased stall. For example: If two stall holders have filled up the candle position, another stall selling fashion is unable to share that space with a candle stall holder as those two positions are already full.
Stall holders who are selling product on the day of market that they have not included in their application will be requested to remove the items to ensure fairness for every market stall holder!
If I’ve traded at a market before do I get preference in submitting an application to attend the next one?
We open up the applications and allow EVERY SINGLE CREATOR the opportunity to apply for a stall. Stall holders are accepted in the order they apply up until their category is at capacity. This ensures a fair playing field for everyone because we believe that’s how markets should be run. All creators deserve equal opportunity to trade with us and to give preferential treatment would be unfair. We appreciate your understanding with this one.
I’ve been placed on the waitlist for a market I applied to attend, what does that mean?
When you’re placed on the waitlist it means either A) your category is full or B) all stalls were taken prior to your application being received. You will be contacted for a stall if a space becomes available to you however please note this is not a guarantee as it relies on stall holders pulling out (and they rarely, if ever do)
I want to submit an application for a market but it’s not available online, why?
Applications are only available online when a market is accepting submissions. If you can’t find the link to apply it means no markets are accepting applications at this time.
Does payment get made when I apply or is it after I am approved?
Payment is required within 3 days after you receive your email notifying you of approval. Failure to make payment of this within 3 days will result in your spot being given to a member of the waitlist.
Where are your markets located?
We currently visit Mornington Peninsula, Bellarine Peninsula, Bendigo & Ballarat.
What type of advertising do you do?
We advertise each and every one of our markets via paid social media ads, print advertising/editorial and radio. Take a look at our media page to see a small selection of places our market has featured. It’s important to note that it is also the stall holders responsibility to promote their attendance through their own channels.
Does The Creators Market have local stall holders only at each market?
It is up to stall holders to apply to participate at The Creators Market and we 100% encourage local stall holders to apply!
(OUTDOOR MARKETS ONLY) If the stalls are outside can I be placed so that I am not facing into the sun?
We’d suggest you set up your stall in a way that suits your products best. The Creators Market is unable to predict the weather or know the direction of the sun from 10am to 3pm.
How do I apply to attend a market?
You can apply to attend a market via the APPLY section on this website. If there is no market accepting applications there’s most likely a waitlist, so feel free to join that!
